Take time to walk the 15 minutes and enjoy a fruit smoothie or a cappuccino at Swells Café, (Located next door to Merewether Surf Club)
The Junction
A superb little village just a two minute walk from Serendipity Guesthouse, that has everything to offer, the new trendy Junction Tavern, the very popular restaurants Tullulah, Lotus, G’rilled, Muchos Mexican, Ariverderci, The Silver Spoon Cafe, the award winning Sesames of Asia plus all the fabulous little cafes, bakeries and take-away’s. Even though The Junction has that small cozy feel about it, it is well serviced with The Junction Fair shopping centre which offers a Coles supermarket and a number of boutique shops including the delicious and the unique OTTOs (Miranda Ottos’ Mother actually owns this lovely dress shop).
Honeysuckle Boardwalk
This lively strip of bars and restaurants along the waterways of central Newcastle is a 5 minute drive from Serendipity Guesthouse. Whether you are drinking at The Dockyard or dining at Silo or Aqua bar or if you simply want a coffee after you have visited the historic Maritme museum, this is the place to go. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the waters edge watching all the activity on the water of this beautiful working Harbour. You can catch the Sydney Seaplanes down to Rose Bay…you can hire a helicopter flight from Forgacs. Walk the promenade down to the Crown Plaza and enjoy a coffee in the foyer or lunch in their restaurant.
Queens Wharf Brewery is a little further along the boardwalk. Scratchleys seafood restaurant is a must for special occasions with its mouth-watering menu. Catch live entertainment every Sunday at the Brewery; home to great New Years Eve entertainment.
